Life Art

Choose your colour, take a brush
Remember, it’s not a race, so don’t you rush
Reach deep in your heart and try to feel
Take all your emotions and make them real

Stand in front of your whitewashed wall
And brush in hand, it’s your call
Paint something meaningful, paint something sweet
If your imagination wishes, just paint some feet

It doesn’t really need to look like anything
Your feelings could be infinite like a ring
You may even find that your work’s incomplete
So remember to stop and take a moment to eat

If finally, you feel you’ve finished your art
You should take a step back and listen to your heart
You wont have captured what’s inside
There’ll still be memories that are trying to hide

Your painting will change throughout the years
Through love, loss, excitement, laughter and tears
And when eventually your life is through
Your wall will remain; a picture of you

Save your brain

Turn off your TV
Rejuvenate your brain cells
Go explore the world

'Till death do us part

'Till death do us part
They both once said,
But those days have passed now,
They both see red.
His eyes flicker back,
In his intoxicated head,
And she sits there crying,
Praying he’s not dead.

It was just a year
Since this nightmare began.
She remembered so clearly -
The unshaven man
Who had in his hand
A powder of white
And how her lover, so gentle
Changed so much that night.

In the months that passed,
The differences came,
He could barely even
Remember her name
And that same man,
With the stubble so black,
Kept meeting her husband,
He kept coming back.

And soon their money was gone
Their house no longer a home.
Most nights she worried
“Will my husband come home?
Or will I hear
A policeman outside,
And for him to tell me
That my husband has died?”

And now she feels
That this day is here.
She holds her breath,
To his mouth puts her ear.
And then tears start to fall
More heavy than rain
Because he is not breathing
And her heart is in pain.

She runs to the phone
Calls nine-one-one
“Please help me” she cries
“For my husband has gone”
“Please calm down”
A voice on the phone says
But she is so scared now
in so many ways.

“My husband has taken
a drug overdose”
Just saying those words
Made her heart hurt the most.
“Please send someone quick
There may still be time”
“No problem Miss,
Please stay on the line”

So she gave her details
But couldn’t think straight.
Worried how long
They would have to wait.
But in no time,
The blue lights were there
They found her so cold
Just lying there.

Her face stained
Mascara black with tears
And on the walls,
photos of them through the years.
And beside the knife
That lay blood stained red
Hand in hand the two lay,
Both of them dead.

The paramedics dumbfounded
As they walked in the room.
This drug fueled dead man
And his wife dead there too.
The heartfelt but tragic
Scene that depicted
She still loved her husband
Even though he was addicted.

Fear

I hear a bark,  I see the beast,
I turn but fear has taken hold.
I try to run and get away
But now my blood runs so cold.

Its on my heels, the barking dog
And now five more follow him.
How did I get here, were can I go?
I find a doorway and run straight in.

My ear pressed against the door
I hear the dogs bark and run past.
They can’t find me now in my hiding place
Which is lucky because they run too fast.

I don't know why

I don’t know why you did it
I wish you’d called me.
I understand now you were hurting,
And hope now you are free.

We shared such great moments,
My heart just can’t be sad.
Like the time we broke the mower.
How angry was your Dad!

We ran around the corner
To decide just what to do,
But we couldn’t think of anything
So you told him it was you.

You were like my bigger sister,
We grew up through the years,
‘Till today I got a phone call
And now I’m in floods of tears.

How could you take your own life
When you had so much to live?
For your little son and daughter
Who have so much love to give.

I never will forget you,
So pretty and so kind,
Although I fondly say farewell
You’re always in my heart and mind.

Death of a Teenage Romance

A heart on my pencil case
Initials on my hand
A sly glance in math class
Our names in the sand
But now you ignore me
Pretend I’m not there
And you’re holding her hand now
And touching her hair.
So I’ll scribble your name out
Try to forget who you were
But you were my first crush
So in my mind, you're always there.

Trick or Treat

Stifled giggles and scurrying feet
Someone shouts out ‘trick or treat’
You answer the door and there near the porch
Stands a ghost and a devil holding a torch.

Reckless

Reckless, relentless,
crazy till the sun sets.

Reckless, rejectless,
you really should accept this.

The sweet shop

They both enter the little sweet store
Two little girls, no older than four.
One has a pink purse, the other is blue,
One has four coins, the other has two.

As they look at the sweets their eyes gleam so bright
As they see all the goodies, such a beautiful sight,
The smallest girl with her purse of blue
Sees the other girl with her coins, only two.

This caring little girl has a think
And she looks at the other with her purse of pink
Then she hands her a coin so they each have three
And now they can both buy a piece of candy.
